Idyllic Cotswold Barn

This beautiful Cotswold stone and wooden clad barn is set in the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds.  Step inside the front door to see the stunning staircase with exposed stone walls.  The building has an attractive staircase and only needed finishing with a modern striped carpet, matching stair rope and antique chandelier.

The Drawing room is full of my clients’ beautiful antiques and curiosities and the fabrics we introduced needed to blend and not fight for their space. I took inspiration from the rug, pulling the blue out for the curtains, in a stunning Manuel Canovas embroidered fabric by Colefax and Fowler. The curtain pole in gold, complements all the picture frames. The large upholstery items are kept in a natural cream linen. The carver chairs are upholstered in a Jane Churchill fabric where the base is cream, and the raised velvet pattern is blue pulling the design together perfectly.

The master bedroom starting point was the curtain fabric, again in a lovely Colefax and Fowler embroidery. The curtain poles were coloured to match the fabric.  The French, Louis style antique gilded sofa has been reupholstered sofa in a flame stitch velvet by GP and J Baker.   We followed the same style through into the dressing room.

The dining room was the darkest room in the house and needed warming up, so we selected a warm red embroidered fabric by Colefax and Fowler to lift the room. I continued the theme of the gilt curtain poles from the lounge to match the beautiful artwork on the walls.  To soften the scheme further, I introduced a stripe by Jane Churchill on the chairs, giving a modern element to the room and added some scatter cushions with trims and tassels.  This theme was continued into the cute little anteroom is full of books, we carried the same fabric through from the dining room onto the blind, adding two antique Louis style chairs upholstered in a plain soft gold linen adding cushions using another Colefax embroidery adding a pop of colour.

The kitchen has a fabulous long window and we opted for a grey and gold Ikat printed fabric by G.P & J Baker on the Roman blinds to add some subtle detail to the room.

The resulting interior is a stunning, tasteful, yet relaxing home.
